Embrace Health

A whole food plant based diet, defined as an eating pattern that encourages the consumption of unrefined plant foods and discourages meat, dairy products, eggs and processed foods has found to be the best diet to prevent chronic disease.

PlantPure Communities

The PlantPure Communities (PPC) Pod Network emerged out of the 2015 film PlantPure Nation with the goal of creating and supporting a grassroots movement by empowering a network of independent local groups (Pods) and people to promote the benefits of a whole food, plant-based lifestyle.Plant Based Living Winnipeg is an official POD member of PlantPure Communities.

People join Pods to support one another and work together to spread the message of plant-based nutrition in their communities, as well as have fun and build friendships. The Pod Network enables people and organizations to come together around the unifying idea of plant-based nutrition.

Participation is free, and PlantPure Communities offer support and networking opportunities to everyone interested in learning, incorporating, advocating and practicing a whole food, plant-based lifestyle. A cornerstone of the Pod Network is inclusiveness. People from all walks of life and at different stages in their wellness or plant-based journey have an open invitation to become a participant in the Pod Network at any time. Pod members may choose to educate others in their community on the connections of a plant-based lifestyle to our health, the environment, farming, animal welfare, and food and health inequities. To date, there are close to 500 groups across the globe with tens of thousands of people involved in the Pod Network.

Plant Based Living Winnipeg

When I started this group in 2016 I didn't know anyone outside of my family who had even heard of a whole-food plant-based diet.

The more I learned about food, the more I wanted to talk about it. I no longer could make sense of why we eat animals or our society's willingness to ignore how our food gets to the table and how it affects our health.

From the very first potluck in 2017 I found exactly what I was looking for - a wonderful group of people who not only understood plant-based eating for health but who experienced the same challenges I had.

There's something so encouraging about people who are committed to seeking the very best health for themselves, and at the same time, doing so much good for the animals and the planet. I am constantly blown away by the quality of people I've met in person and online through PBLW.

Together we are building a new community and showing what is possible with a plant-based lifestyle.
