A whole food plant based diet, defined as an eating pattern that encourages the consumption of unrefined plant foods and discourages meat, dairy products, eggs and processed foods has found to be the best diet to prevent chronic disease.
Our community embraces people at all stages of their plant-based journey. From potlucks and movie nights to public meet-ups there is something for everyone. When I started this group in 2016 I didn't know anyone outside of my family who had even heard of a whole-food plant-based diet.
The more I learned about food, the more I wanted to talk about it. I no longer could make sense of why we eat animals or our society's willingness to ignore how our food gets to the table and how it affects our health.
From the very first potluck in 2017 I found exactly what I was looking for - a wonderful group of people who not only understood plant-based eating for health but who experienced the same challenges I had.
There's something so encouraging about people who are committed to seeking the very best health for themselves, and at the same time, doing so much good for the animals and the planet. I am constantly blown away by the quality of people I've met in person and online through PBLW.
Together we are building a new community and showing what is possible with a plant-based lifestyle.
